About Us

During the middle of 1978, a few young Madras (Chennai as it was then) based Chartered Accountants, met periodically to discuss matters of professional relevance and significance and to widen their knowledge, exposure and skills, and to share their experience in the profession.

The success of such meetings prompted the formation of THE CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS STUDY CIRCLE and thus the First Meeting of the official CASC was held on 29th December 1978. Since then, till date, meetings have been organised every month, without a break - a record of sorts for any form of Organisation. With the success of the meetings and the ever-increasing issues in the fields of accountancy, audit and corporate law, the meetings began to be held twice each month since 1990. The days and the timings are also fixed on the second and last Thursdays of each month at 6.30 pm and are seldom changed.

A committee of management consisting of the members of CASC, manages the affairs of the organisation. The management committee has a perfect blend of young and old who give their time and resources to the organisation voluntarily.

Beginning as a forum for the discussions on Tax and Corporate Laws, CASC has become a full-fledged treasure house of talent creation, refining, culturing and mobilisation. The silver jubilee of CASC was celebrated in 2003.

There are a number of people who have made their first speech or presented their first paper under the banner of CASC. The best young speaker is identified and honoured in the annual general meeting of organisation each year.

The organisation is proud that many of its members have become men of great eminence, including two of its members being occupants of coveted position of the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a number of members have been serving in the regional and central councils of ICAI, ICSI, chambers of commerce and other bodies. The members of CASC are interspersed in the society and more particularly in practice and in the industry.

The membership of CASC is in the form of life and annual member. The composition of the members includes lawyers, company secretaries, consultants, and members of other allied and related professions.

Besides our regular meetings, the CASC organises with regularity, workshops, refresher courses, seminars and group discussions on all profession related subjects and topics in its acquired self contained, fully Air-conditioned Premises at a Central Location in Chennai with the state of the art infrastructure.

Every year, scholarships are granted to meritorious students of the CA course through the various endowments created by member and their families.

The residential conferences conducted by CASC, an annual feature, are awaited eagerly by all the members. The programmes conducted in exotic places at affordable rates coupled good learning experience are booked well in advance.

The monthly publication of CASC, namely "The CASC BULLETIN" is very popular and has attracted subscribers far and wide. The magazine is given to all the members free of cost. It has a well-established and high quality reader base and contains the relevant treasures for both the members in the industry and in practice in all the areas of interest. The publication also focuses on professional opportunities, sunrise avenues and other thought provoking articles, exchange of problems and solutions and a digest of recent decisions, notifications and circulars. The subscription is nominally priced and the subscription is open to all.

CASC through its research and publication team has brought out various books of professional interest. The book titled "Corporate Audit Checklist" has a unique distinction be being fully sold out within four weeks of its launch and the second reprint was released to meet the demand.

The CASC solicits membership to the organisation or subscribe to the news bulletin from professionals including chartered accountants, lawyers, company secretaries, management consultants, academicians, executives, and all those who are concerned with Taxation, Corporate laws and other allied fields.
